"The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. Who may ascend the hill of the LORD ? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false."
-Psalm 24:1-4 (NIV)
My oldest daughter reads scripture to me as we drive to school each morning. This was part of what she read as we were driving down the "Trace" today. What a reminder, that every time we see the sun rise or set, or hear the thunder roll or the wind blow through the trees, or every time we hear a child laugh or watch an older couple holding hands....my God, the Earth is yours and everything in it. And even though He is so amazing, so vast, so powerful....we don't have to approach His Holy hill in terror or shame, but with confidence because of the finished work of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice made our hands clean and our hearts pure. So if you are reading this and you are spending your life attempting to "scrub" your hands and your hearts clean so you can approach God one day, I pray that you would realize that those who live their lives in His presence are not clean from scrubbing, but from believing. From trusting, from putting their faith in the fact that Jesus accomplished something all the soap and water in the world couldn't touch, He washed away our sin.
Take some time to thank Him for the finished work of Jesus Christ.
(Eph 2:13) If you are still scrubbing, put down soap and trust in Christ for the work of His blood........the salvation of your very soul. (Eph 2:8-9)
