I always had this idea that the love of God and the law of God were His two separate and very different personalities. That the law of God is the old mean God of the Old Testament...HUGE, POWERful, MIGHTy, and extremely conservative and out of touch. Then the love of God is the Newer, FRESHer, more liberal, and more hip God who cares about the little people like you and me and proved it by sending Jesus. I couldn't help but notice this morning that the Psalmist sees the law of God as a display of His love. That the law of God was his passion for within it he saw God's passion for him. He saw it as the Light of his path-keeping his feet from stumbling, he saw it as the key to his wisdom, he saw it as the honey on his lips. He saw it as the ability to understand the heart of God.
May I see your law God as a light, as a sweet taste in my mouth, as an open door to your heart and mind. May I embrace the boundaries you have set and enjoy the expanses of your freedom within them.
