Smells Like something I remember (II Cor 2:14-17)

Smell is by far my most powerful memory trigger.... Just the other day I smelled the inside of a work pick-up truck of one of our students parents and it automatically took me pack to my childhood. I used to ride in my dad's work pick-up back and forth to football games and practices. It was a good memory. In II Cor. 2:14-17 the knowledge of God is like a fragrance. To those who are saved the Gospel is a beautiful scent...to those who have chosen to deny Christ the Gospel is a terrible smell. It's like old trash to an outside dumpster. If it is hot outside and the "juice" of the trash has had time to sit in the steamy metal dumpster long enough the aroma caused by that chemical reaction will almost cause you to gag. That is how some people view the message of Jesus. The fact that they will stand condemned if they reject His gift of eternal life is nauseating to some people.... Here are some questions to think think through.....

What are some smells that bring back memories for you?

What does the aroma of the good news about Jesus smell like to you?

If it causes you to gag, why?

Have you had bad experiences when it comes to God, Jesus, church , Christians? DO you think you will always feel this way?
