High School Small Group Last Night

OFF THE CHAIN!!
Great time together last night at McAlisters. Mary, thanks for the worship. I was so encouraged as I drove away last night watching each of you discuss the "nets" of your life. I am convinced that we just got our hands full with the nets and can barely keep up , much less follow Jesus. I pray that each day you chose to drop the nets and follow Him. You all rock.

A little reading for you today to follow up on last night...
John 21:1-14

After the crucifixion of Jesus the disciples (led by Peter) end up in of all places...a boat. Back to fishing. Back to their old life. 3 years of walking with Jesus and there they are back in the boat, back on the sea, doing what they know. Catching fish, or at least trying to. Jesus appears to them from the shore as the sun begins to rise (unrecognizable to the disciples) and once again gives them the order to put the nets out on the other side of the boat. They do as he says and within the nets are 153 fish. Peter jumps out of the boat and swam to Jesus. (remember this is this first recorded one on one conversation Peter has with Christ after his denial. ) Peter gets to the shore first even though of all the disciples he should be most hesitant of conversing with Him. As the other disciples arrive on the shore something is already cooking over the fire....

What is cooking? (John21:9)

Isn't it crazy that the thing they were seeking, the thing they spent all night trying to catch was already on the shore with Jesus. Oh my friends, that is so true to us today. The things that we seek, love, acceptance, passion, pleasure, purpose......all the things we spend our lives trying to gain, trying to fish for are already on the shore with Jesus.

What are the things that you are still fishing for in your life?

Can that be found in Christ?
